Breast Cysts

What are breast cysts?

Breast cysts are fluid-filled cavities within the breast, which can vary in size and may be palpable. Cysts are often multiple and can be found in both breasts. They can be part of a more global benign change in the breast called fibrocystic change.

Do breast cysts require treatment?

Simple cysts seen on imaging do not require any specific treatment, but larger symptomatic cysts may be drained (needle aspiration). Complex cysts may require further investigations or treatment. Dr Bell will review your imaging and provide more information at the appointment.
